We used to call them budgets. Now we talk about funding the mission. Either way, it is money. Why do it?
Giving mirrors gracious dealings of God with us. A Christian or group of Christians (a church) that does not give away from themselves seems like a contradiction in terms.
Local church pastors encourage their congregation to give tithes and offerings. When the local church gives away from itself it is practicing the very thing it asks its people to do.
Our District Assembly guidance is for the local church to send 14% each month of the previous month tithe and offering directly to the District to be distributed for district and general church obligations. For each dollar we receive, 5.5% goes to the World Evangelism Fund (WEF), 4% helps fund District operations, 2.5% funds Education initiatives and the remaining 2% is allocated to Nazarene Benefits.
We are part of something beyond our own local church congregations. Faithful, consistent, proportional giving connects us with the wider work of the church. Our giving supports active ministry and helps to give a small benefit to those ordained clergy who have retired.
Beginning in January, the way you contribute to your district budgets and allocations will be changing. In an effort to provide a more secure and efficient transaction between the church and district, all contributions will be made online only through the Nazarene platform, “Funding The Mission.” This change will allow pastors and church treasurers to obtain the most up to date giving information conveniently, giving you the opportunity to share with your church board and leaders on demand.
There are two ways to give:
- Until December 31st, give quickly, easily and securely online by clicking HERE. Your budget payment will be automatically tracked to your local church account.
- On January 1st, 2026, all payments must be made HERE.
- You may still mail or drop off checks to the District Office at 201 West Valley Stream Blvd, Valley Stream, NY 11580 until December 15th. Checks received after this date may not be processed.
All 2025 Budget Allocations must be received by January 18th, 2026 to be applied to your 2025 contributions. Allocations received after January 19th, 2026 will be applied to your 2026 contributions.
