As a district representing many nations, we know new executive orders and potential immigration policy changes have many of you facing an unknown future. Feelings of fear and uncertainty are real, but our faith and confidence in the One who loves, redeems, and reconciles is just as real.
Scripture reminds us, as God’s holy people, to work for righteousness and justice, to practice compassion and hospitality, by welcoming the stranger among us. In fact, the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene (paragraph 921) provides a framework to help us understand the invitation to this critical and life-giving ministry. Today our response as followers and disciples of Jesus the Christ must include treating immigrants with love, respect, and mercy. These actions reflect our commitment to embody the Scriptural call to love and serve as faithful witnesses of Christ Jesus, our Lord.
We are committed to providing guidance and resources for pastors, congregants, and the communities they serve as best as possible. Our District Superintendent has shared his heart on this subject in the link below, as well as provided guidance on Sanctuary and Harboring FAQs that are imperative as we navigate these challenges. If you have specific questions or would like to be connected to legal representation, please email Rev. Teanna Sunberg.
We will update this site as more information and resources become available.
